Bishop Walter and Dr. Alice Pendleton are a distinguished couple whose contributions to science and community leadership have left a lasting impact. Born in Hempstead, Texas, Bishop Walter Pendleton is the great-grandson of G. W. Wyatt, Texas's first Black legislator. His early life laid a strong foundation for a career that intertwined with his wife’s achievements in aerospace materials research.

Together, they served as research scientists at NASA, where their innovative work showcased their dedication to advancing technology and education. Notably, in 2007, Dr. Alice Pendleton was invited by President George W. Bush and Queen Elizabeth II to consult on a significant NASA project, with Walter providing unwavering support during this prestigious endeavor.
